Refund Policy

Our service fee

We charge a service fee to cover the cost of sourcing your ticket, currency conversion, and customer support.

  • If your ticket has already been issued by China Railway, the service fee is non-refundable. The ticket itself may still be refunded according to the China Railway rules below.
  • If we have not yet issued your ticket (e.g. the departure date is not yet in the booking window, or you cancel before we purchase), you will receive a full refund of the total amount paid, minus a credit card processing fee of approximately 3%.

China Railway ticket refunds

Once a ticket is issued, the refund amount for the ticket portion follows China Railway's (12306) official rules based on how far in advance you cancel:

Time before departureCancellation fee (ticket portion)
More than 48 hours5% of ticket price
24 – 48 hours10% of ticket price
Less than 24 hours20% of ticket price

These fees are charged by China Railway and are outside our control. We pass refunds on to you net of these deductions.

Presale bookings

For journeys where tickets are not yet on sale at the time of booking, we hold your payment and purchase the ticket the moment it becomes available (typically around 15 days before departure). If we are unable to secure a ticket for any reason — including tickets selling out — you will receive a full refund minus the credit card processing fee (approximately 3%).

How to request a refund

Email us at support@chinahighspeedtrain.com with your booking reference and reason for cancellation. We aim to process all refund requests within 2 business days. Refunds are returned to the original payment method and may take 5–10 business days to appear on your statement.
